Africa-Press – Mauritius. A workshop focusing on the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) Act and the renewal of registration through the E-Registration System, and targeting contractors of Small and Medium Enterprises, opened, this morning, at Voilà Hotel in Bagatelle.

The workshop is an initiative of the CIDB. It comprises presentations on the CIDB Act and regulations together with related amendments as well as a live demo of the application for renewal on the E-registration system.

In his address, the Executive Director of the CIDB, Mr Ram Bahadoor, underlined that the workshop sought to shed light on the recent changes brought to the CIDB legislation and its provisions.

He emphasised that the regulations were introduced with the objective of simplifying things for contractors and strengthening the regulatory role of the organisation.

He underscored the need to reinforce the enforcement capabilities of the CIDB which, he remarked, would deter illegal operations due to increased legal sanctions.

The Executive Director also indicated that the workshop aimed at familiarising the participants with the renewal exercise using the E-Registration System. Speaking about the E-register platform, he said that it enhanced the ease of doing business for contractors.
