Africa-Press – Mauritius. The fourth edition of the Street Dance Battle competition, aiming to encourage Mauritians to demonstrate their talents, was launched, this afternoon, at the Cȏte D’Or National Sports Complex.
This initiative of the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Recreation, also has as objective to encourage Mauritians take up a physical activity as well as motivate them to express themselves through dance performances.
In a statement, the National Coordinator of the competition, Mr Kenjee Kennedy, highlighted that this edition will comprise of five dance categories which are namely: Breakdance (+16 years), Hip Hop All Style, Afro Dance, Break Kidz (-16 years), and Choreography.
Those participating in the choreography category need to form a team of two to five persons and the category will be open to any music genre, he highlighted.
He stated that the deadline for registration is 05 October 2021 adding that those willing to participate need to send a video of two minutes or on Whatsapp +230 57733289.
Only 80 participants will be selected for live performances, he said. The launching of the competition also saw dance performances of winners of the previous editions of the Street Dance Battle competition.
