Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique is already preparing to hold its sixth round of municipal elections on October 11, 2023.
The electoral process will cost the state around 9.7 billion meticais (US$151.8 million, at current exchange rates).
National Elections Commission spokesman Paulo Cuinica said that there is still no proposed date for voter registration, and that an announcement on the subject would be made by the Council of Ministers.
Standing out among the various activities that will be carried out in the run-up to the elections are the installation of technical secretariats for District Electoral Administration (STAE), civic education campaigns and approval of registration posts.
The combined budget for both the 2023 local elections and the 2024 general elections is estimated at around 18 billion meticais, or US$281.7 million, at current exchange rates.
