Africa-Press – Mozambique. Six persons have been detained in Tete for alleged involvement in corruption schemes, TVM reported on Thursday (24-03).
They include Provincial Director of Planning and Finance, Carlos Tomo; his wife Belarmina Jaqueta; his nephew Tomás Júnior; as well as INAS employees Josefina Fernando and Felix Bernardo, among others, TVM added.
Also on Thursday, Noticias reported that Carlos Tomo, Tete’s provincial director of Economy and Finance, has been detained since yesterday on orders from the Central Office for the Fight against Corruption (GCCC).
According to Noticias, ”for reasons yet to be determined, [Tomo’s] wife, Belmira Jaqueta, director of the National Institute of Social Action (INAS) Tete delegation, and his brother-in-law, whose identity we will make known in updates, have also been detained”.
Other National Institute of Social Security (INSS) staff members have also been arrested In connection with the case, the Noticias report reads.
An official communiqué addressing the matter was being produced in the city of Tete, ostensibly for distribution late on Thursday.
