Africa-Press – Mozambique. Seven people died and four were seriously injured in a road accident this morning on National Road Number 1 (EN1) in Manhiça district, Maputo province.
The crash involved a ‘chapa’ (mini-bus) and a truck.
Traffic police at the scene told Miramar that excessive speed and reckless overtaking by the driver of the mini-bus, which was heading from Xipamanine, in Maputo city, to Manhiça, may have caused the accident.
The National Public Safety Service was attending the scene, removing the victims from the mini-bus.
The Administrator of Manhiça District and the head of the PRM in Maputo province were also at the scene of the accident coordinating the rescue operation.
