Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Institute of Road Transport (INATRO) on July 11 resumed the production of biometric driving licences, interrupted since December, 2021.
A press release explains that the resumption is the result of a new service provider being selected, by public tender.
The new provider has changed some features of the driving licence, such as the colour and layout, and increased the number of safety devices from 13 to 24.
The INATRO document notes that current driving licences are valid until the expiry date displayed and do not need to be replaced with the new one before then.
INATRO meanwhile urges drivers to collect the around 75,000 driving licences already produced and awaiting collection.
In order to speed up the process, drivers will be able to pick up the documents at their local INATRO offices.
“As a complementary measure, we created a prior communication platform through messages to be sent to users about the status of their driving licence and we also created a hotline with number 21311179 to which all user complaints and concerns should be channelled,” the document reads.
