Africa-Press – Mozambique. A group of citizens living in the city of Nampula, represented by activist Gamito dos Santos Carlos, officially notified the President of the Municipal Council of a peaceful demonstration to be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025.
The demonstration aims to protest against the current fuel crisis affecting the country, resulting in a significant increase in prices, which in some places have already reached 500 meticais per litre. The organizers say this increase is worsening the cost of living for Mozambicans.
In accordance with Article 51 of the Constitution of the Republic of Mozambique and current legislation on the right to protest, the signatories guarantee that the action will be peaceful and duly coordinated.
The march is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m., with participants gathering at the bus terminal on Avenida Eduardo Mondlane, also known as Djalo. The march will then continue along the same avenue to the Provincial Directorate of Mineral Resources and Energy, where the protesters intend to submit a request for clarification. The demonstration is scheduled to end at 10:30 a.m..
