Africa-Press – Mozambique. A series of military operations in Cabo Delgado carried out by the joint Rwandan and Mozambican troops and the SADC (Community for the Development of Southern Africa) SAMIM force last weekend resulted in the death of at least 25 terrorists.
Information advanced to ‘Carta’ indicates that the terrorists were killed in confrontations in Naguitengue, Mbau administrative post, Mocímboa da Praia district, on the banks of the Messalo river in Muidumbe district, and in Quissanga district.
According to the Carta sources, 20 terrorists were killed by the joint Rwandan and Mozambican forces and five by SAMIM, the SADC Force.
The operations began last Friday and, in addition to the killing of the terrorists, various means of circulation (vehicles and motorbikes), documents and equipment such as computers, mobile phones and electricity generators were seized.
Carta sources maintain that the terrorists neutralized by SADC troops intended to attack one of the islands of the Quirimbas Archipelago in search of food.
Carta emphasises that terrorist attacks have already caused the death of more than 3,000 people and forced the displacement of more than 800,000 citizens. Casualties include civilians, terrorists and soldiers, including foreign troops.
