Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) in Zambézia province have detained the individual who allegedly “gave the order” for the head of a two-year-old child to be cut off in the district of Gilé.
The arrest was confirmed by provincial PRM spokesperson Miguel Caetano.
The man is now in police custody thanks to the work of the PRM and SERNIC, and will be brought to court to be held criminally accountable.
The hideous crime took place a few days ago in the Gilé district, where the man cut off the head of his daughter, allegedly for use in rituals to create wealth.
On November 8, Rádio Nova Paz Quelimane reported that two individuals had been arrested by the PRM in Zambézia and charged with aggravated homicide of a two-year-old child, the daughter of one of them.
Police spokesperson Miguel Caetano on November 8 told how the macabre murder took place on Saturday, November 6, in the district of Gilé.
The child’s father and an accomplice, he said, took his daughter into a local forest, where they cut off the head of the child with a machete, so as to sell it to a supposed buyer for a million meticais. The pair then buried the girl’s body in the same place.
The child’s mother, suspicious of her husband’s behaviour, went to the forest and, seeing traces of the crime, contacted the police, who arrested the two murderers in possession of the child’s head.
Miguel Caetano said that the crime had shocked the corporation, who were in pursuit of the alleged buyer and mastermind of the crime.
