Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Administrator of Xai-Xai district, Argelência Unguana, and the Director of the Gaza Provincial Governor’s Office, Dora Adelina Artur, are detained at the second police station of the Mozambican Republic Police in the city of Xai-Xai, accused of diverting donations intended for flood victims in the area.
Also detained was a warehouse officer, following a complaint and subsequent investigation that confirmed the suspicions. Among the misappropriated items were 218 mattresses, 41 bales of clothing, maize flour, rice, cooking oil, and biscuits.
According to Rádio Moçambique, searches are currently under way at residences where the items were being hidden. The National Criminal Investigation Service (SERNIC) is expected to issue a statement on the matter this afternoon.
