Africa-Press – Mozambique. At least eleven people lost their lives and eight others suffered minor injuries in a road accident in Chókwè district, Gaza province, this morning.

The accident took place at around 7:30 a.m. on National Road Number 101 in the DIC-07 area, and involved a semi-trailer goods vehicle and a Toyota Hiace passenger bus, registration AIK-692 MP, serving the Chókwè-Macia connection, a police source reported.

According to the report, the left rear tire of the minibus burst, the vehicle then skidding off the road into the irrigation canal, where it remained submerged for a long period of time.

As a result, eleven of the chapa’s occupants drowned. A further eight who were injured were assisted at Chókwè Rural Hospital.
