Africa-Press – Mozambique. Year-on-year inflation in Mozambique dropped again in July, to 5.67%, according to data released this Monday by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), back down to levels of around 18 months ago.

The reduction in 12-month inflation, for the fourth consecutive month, is explained “mainly by the greater supply of fruit and vegetables’ ‘ and also “by the favourable behaviour of fuel prices in relation to the previous year’ ‘, the INE says.

Last May, the one-year inflation rate in Mozambique had reached 8.23%, which according to INE, was then the lowest monthly growth in 13 months, and in June fell to 6.81%.

Prices in Mozambique have risen 2.22% since the beginning of 2023, but average monthly inflation over the last 12 months is 10%, according to INE.
