Africa-Press – Mozambique. For the third day in a row, the Frelimo party is unable to reach consensus on the names to be submitted to the Central Committee for voting.

In the early afternoon of this Sunday, the Political Commission posted a new list containing five names, plus two requested by the Central Committee, namely Esperança Bias, President of the Assembly of the Republic and Francisco Mucanheia, Advisor to the President of the Republic, both of whom joined the previous three pre-candidates Roque Silva, Damião José and Daniel Chapo.

However, the Central Committee did not even meet to validate the proposal because, a few minutes later, it was removed from the “board”. The reason is unknown.

But from what is said behind the scenes – we must recall that no official information has circulated since Friday – it is because it does not reach consensus and apparently the Central Committee is not available to at least analyse the proposed new names.

Some members of the Central Committee, who from time to time leave the meeting to go outside in order to eat something and/or unwind, warn the press that the day will continue to be long and that there is no capacity for consensus to be reached between the proposals that are being discussed. be presented by the Political Commission and what the Central Committee’s expectations are.

And, until now, it is difficult to imagine the possible outcome of the First Extraordinary Session of the Frelimo Central Committee, which was convened for just one day and with a single point on the agenda, which is the election of the candidate for the presidential elections on the 9th of Next October.

Remember that names such as José Pacheco, Celso Correia, Basílio Monteiro, Aires Ali, António Hama Thay, Eduardo Mulémbwè, Samora Machel Júnior, Luísa Diogo and Amélia Muendane who had had been identified as possible candidates are attending this meeting. Supposedly ,they already had active electoral offices, but surprisingly none of them had their name included in the proposal presented by the Political Commission, which could justify the impasse, since, despite having agreed to add two more names to the race, after two consecutive days of heated debates, none of the above mentioned has had a say.
