Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Cameroonian referee Mefire Abdou Abdoul to take charge of the highly anticipated Matchday 2 Group Stage encounter between Morocco and Mali, scheduled for tomorrow in Rabat.
At just 29 years old, Abdoul becomes the youngest referee at this year’s Africa Cup of Nations, a remarkable milestone that underlines CAF’s growing confidence in the next generation of African match officials. His appointment comes in what is expected to be a high-intensity fixture, with both sides battling for crucial points and momentum in the group.
Abdoul is no stranger to major occasions. He previously officiated the CHAN final between Morocco and Madagascar, delivering a composed performance on one of the continent’s biggest stages. That experience has clearly strengthened his reputation as a referee capable of handling pressure-packed matches.
With Rabat set for a charged atmosphere and significant stakes on the line, Abdoul faces a big night and an even bigger responsibility—another test for a rising official trusted to uphold standards on African football’s grandest platform.
