Africa-Press – Mozambique. ExxonMobil Moçambique, Limitada (EMML), on behalf of Area 4 (ExxonMobil, Eni, CNPC, KOGAS, XRG, and ENH), announced US$1.5 million in contributions to various community organizations in the province of Cabo Delgado, Mozambique. With the contributions, community organizations aim to promote women’s health and girl retention in school, community stabilization and improve food security.
Kama Mwezi, one of the local grant recipients, will be producing 14,000 menstrual hygiene kits of reusable pads in Palma District to improve sanitation and dignity for girls in the province. The program will include a series of training and awareness sessions as well as 10 workshops on income generation opportunities for women improving practical skills in cutting, sewing, and strengthening local business capabilities.
Another notable program, implemented by Consul Services and VAMOZ, will be the addition of 500 solar streetlights this year, on top of the 250 solar streetlights installed in 5 communities in Palma District in 2024. The program is set to benefit a further 7,000 families in addition to the 3,348 families who benefited in 2024, creating 168 employment opportunities.
“We are committed to supporting Mozambique’s long-term development in partnership with our community partners, host communities and local government”, said Frank Kretschmer, Lead Country Manager for EMML. “Programs like that of Kama Mwezi, Makobo and Consul Services will add on to the ongoing community work being carried out by the Area 4 partners in the region”.
