Africa-Press – Mozambique. Gangs of armed men have invaded the premises of two mining companies in the northern Gilé district of Zambézia province and vandalised equipment.
Spokesman for the Police of the Republic of Mozambique in Zambézia, Miguel Caetano, confirms the information but says he has no further details as yet.
Caetano told ‘Notícias’ this Thursday that police were deployed to the site to ascertain what happened and try to deduce any possible motive for the acts.
Robberies and vandalization at companies and other institutions are frequent in Gilé district. This is the third such occurrence in less than two years.
The mining and health sectors seem to be the protagonists’ preferred targets.
