Armed robbers snatch 1 million meticais cash in Tete city

Africa-Press – Mozambique. Persons unknown seized more than one million meticais [around US$15,600] in an armed robbery in the city of Tete on Tuesday morning.

The victims were a Mozambican and an Indian man, O País reports..

The robbery took place between Independência and Julius Nyerere Avenues shortly after 8:00 a.m..

The incident, captured by a surveillance camera, involved five individuals who parked a light vehicle near a bank branch. The group got out of the car and fired shots in the air right just outside the bank door before snatching a briefcase of money from the hands of a citizen going by the name of Aldon Blaque.

One witness reported that the criminals did not have their faces covered, and that they executed their plan very quickly.

A private company security guard assigned to the bank where the robbery took place said that he did not notice any movement of suspicious people prior to the incident.
