Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Provincial Directorate of Culture and Tourism of Sofala has announced that the Motel Estoril and Hotel Dom Carlos, both located in the City of Beira, are to be rehabilitated.

The news was relayed during a visit by the Provincial Assembly of Sofala aimed at establishing whether there were any restoration projects for the two imposing infrastructures in the pipeline, TVM reported.

Abandoned for decades, the buildings have been routinely supplying the market with building materials and serving as a hiding place for criminals.

According to the representative of the Sofala Culture and Tourism Directorate, cited by TVM, project owners, the Macuti Tourist Complex, will hold a meeting on the 27th of this month to present the rehabilitation plan.

Speaker of Sofala Provincial Assembly Antónia Charre said: “We think they should go ahead.

If they won, it’s because they have the conditions to properly carry out the project.

The Casa dos Bicos and the Provincial House of Culture of Sofala, both located in the city of Beira, and the Santuário de Muenhe Mukuro in Búzi, were also topics of the discussion between the members of the Provincial Assembly and the provincial government.
