Boxing: Alcinda and Rady two-time African champions as Mozambique brings home 9 medals

Africa-Press – Mozambique. Alcinda Panguana and Rady Gramane last Saturday (05-08) held on to their title of African boxing champions. In addition to their two golds, Mozambique won an additional seven medals – two silver and five bronze – in the Africa Boxing Championships in Yaounde, Cameroon.

In the final of the 66-70 kg category, Alcinda needed just 32 seconds in the 1st round to defeat Tanzanian Grace Mwakamele.

Rady, on the other hand, had to sweat to beat the Nigerian Patricia Mbata, in the final of the 70-75 kilos category, earning a points victory from four of the five judges.

The silver medals were won by Bernardo Marime, who lost in the final in the 63.5-67 kg category, and Tiago Muxanga, the finalist in the 67-71 kg category.

Bronze medallists Yassine Nordine, Armando Sigaúque, Solomone Júlio, Isabel Mulungo and Benilde Macaringue all went out in the semi-finals of the championship.
