Business mission to Porto and Lisbon – Green Venture will invest in Mozambique

Africa-Press – Mozambique. As part of the Business Mission to Porto and Lisbon, the delegation of Mozambican businesspeople visited and held a meeting with Green Venture today, in which they announced that they will invest in Mozambique, and are looking for concrete partners to materialize this investment.

Green Venture is a private investment and asset management company, specializing in the identification, acquisition, development and implementation of renewable energy projects. The company already has a shareholder mandate to develop energy generation projects in Mozambique and sees the opportunity in the Mozambican Government’s objectives of achieving universal electrification by 2030.

The Magude District Government, the Maluana Science and Technology Park and MozParks explained the availability of spaces and their search for investments, especially in the expansion of sugar cane production and diversification of energy sources. It is important to note that Mozambique has vast flat areas for this type of investment.

The Mozambican company KMA Advisory agreed, with Green Venture, to discuss a business partnership for assistance until the investment in Mozambique is completed.

In turn, the Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM) invited Green Venture to approach, as it complements the tax benefits offered by the Mozambican Government. Furthermore, BVM launched sustainable bonds which include the Green Venture.

It is important to highlight that the stock market in Mozambique is more oriented, whether towards start-ups, SMEs and large companies, and the distribution of income via the stock market offers a 50% discount on the Corporate Income Tax (IRPC).

Another added value is the fact that the Bank of Mozambique is already authorizing the issuance of debt in Mozambique, not only in Metical, but also in foreign currency.

Green Venture presented some difficulties regarding capital flow and opening an account in foreign currency. At the meeting, the CTA highlighted the fact that Green Venture’s investment could open up business opportunities for Mozambican SMEs.
