Cabo Delgado foresees over 1.3 million tons of agricultural produce

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The province of Cabo Delgado hopes to market over 1.3 million tons of various agricultural products, including food and cash crops, in the current campaign, which launches officially this Friday (12-04).

Provincial director of Industry and Commerce Nocif Magaia indicates that this figure would represent a five percent increase compared to the previous campaign.

Magaia said that everything was ready, although concerns remain about the ongoing rains in the central and southern parts of Cabo Delgado, and the displacement of residents by terrorism.

According to Magaia, the agricultural marketing campaign starting this week could reduce the food prices currently seen in the province.

Financially, the agricultural marketing campaign in Cabo Delgado could generate over eight billion meticais.

Cereals, legumes, roots, tubers, cashew nuts and cotton are among the products that will dominate the campaign. The launch, taking place in the city of Pemba, will be led by provincial governor Valige Tauabo.
