Africa-Press – Mozambique. Cholera has killed two more people in Mozambique in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative death toll to 121 since the start of the rainy season in October, 2022.

The Ministry of Health’s (MISAU) daily bulletin on the cholera situation, sent to AIM on Wednesday, reveals that at least 172 people are currently hospitalized with the disease in the country’s health units.

In the last 24 hours, MISAU also registered 237 new cases of the disease, bringing the cumulative total to 26,060 cases.

Districts of Niassa, Tete, Manica, Sofala and Zambezia provinces in the centre of the country are hardest hit.

MISAU registered 276 hospital discharges in the last 24 hours, bringing to 25,745 the number of cholera patients no longer requiring hospitalization.

The overall fatality rate of the current cholera outbreak is 0.5 percent.
