Cooking oil made in Nacala withdrawn from market

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Inspectorate of Economic Activities (INAE) has decided to withdraw from the market, with immediate effect, cooking oil of the brand ‘Super Vega’, “illegally produced in the province of Nampula, district of Nacala, [being sold] mainly in the north and centre of the country, although it is being sold throughout the country”.

INAE announced, in a statement, that it has found that this is an illegal economic unit, whose cooking oil is being produced without observing prior quality control by the Ministry of Health (MISAU), without having “approval of the label, authorization to use the ‘Made in Mozambique’ seal, in addition to its nutritional content not being approved by the competent entity, among other legally imposed requirements, without which the industry should not operate”.

The National Inspectorate of Economic Activities also instructed its delegations to proceed with the immediate seizure of the cooking oil in question, as well as submit samples of it to the laboratory for quality control purposes, including the fortification parameter “as it is an illegal economic unit, whose product is highly suspect for human consumption
