Africa-Press – Mozambique. COTUR Travel and Tourism Agency has achieved an unprecedented feat in its sector in Mozambique, becoming the first in its field of business to receive the ISO 9001 International Quality Certificate from Bureau Veritas.
In a historic milestone for the Mozambican transportation and tourism sector, COTUR received the ISO 9001 International Quality Certificate this Tuesday.
For the institution, this is not only recognition of the excellence of COTUR’s services, but also an elevation of the quality standard.
“This international recognition with ISO 9001 certification is not just an internal goal achieved, but a tool for our industry to serve the future of Mozambican tourism. More than just a diploma on the wall, this certification is a commitment to what matters most to us: our customers and our country. It guarantees solid processes, consistent quality, and reliable service that lives up to expectations,” said Muhammad Abdullah, CEO of COTUR.
According to the representative of Bureau Veritas, Guilherme Drehmer, COTUR’s certification makes it the first Mozambican company in the transportation and tourism sector to obtain ISO 9001, an internationally recognized standard for quality management, issued by a globally recognized entity.
“This certification is not just a certificate that will be awarded; it will be emblazoned within COTUR; it is an excellent management tool, which will allow COTUR to continue the continuous evolution of its procedures,” Drehmer added.
Despite this moment of celebration, the sector is expressing growing concern about the shortage of foreign currency in the domestic market.
“We have been warning those responsible that concrete action is needed to resolve or at least alleviate this situation. I must also say that some improvement, although not very significant, has already been felt, but unfortunately, several airlines have had their access to our market cut off. There are significant limitations. We have been receiving daily warnings of possible new cuts, which directly affects the travel market,” COTUR revealed.
COTUR reinforces its commitment to quality, innovation, and resilience, calling for continued joint efforts between the public and private sectors to ensure a more stable and investment-friendly economic environment.
