Africa-PressMozambique. Four days after authorising the reopening of beaches, as part of the review of the restriction measures adopted in the context of combating the new coronavirus, the government is considering reviewing the measure on the grounds on the alleged “bad behaviour” of some Mozambicans last weekend.

The information was released this Tuesday by the deputy minister of Justice, Constitutional and Religious Affairs, Filimão Suazi, at the end of the 33rd Ordinary Session of the Council of Ministers.

According to the government spokesperson, the behaviour shown by some citizens visiting the Wimbe (Pemba), Costa do Sol (Maputo), Tofo (Inhambane), Zalala (Quelimane) and Bilene (Gaza) beaches, “flagrantly contradicted government expectations”.

Among the unacceptable behaviour was the consumption of alcoholic beverages by dint of various subterfuges, such as the use of plastic cups and the burial of cooler boxes.

Suazi re-emphasised that the reopening of the beaches should not be confused with the end of the pandemic, and appealed to “individual and collective conscience”, since “this behaviour could result in the reversal of some measures announced by the President of the Republic”.
