Africa-Press – Mozambique. In a continuation of the meeting held last Thursday, President of the Republic Filipe Nyusi on Monday chaired another meeting of the National Defence and Security Council (CNDS).

According to a communiqué received by Radio Mozambique, the CNDS proposes to revise the Military Service Law, transferring some senior Mozambican Armed Defence Forces (FADM) officers to the reserve, and to report on the start of Mozambique’s United Nations Security Council mandate.

The CNDS recommends that the Military Service Law be revised in order to make the Mozambican Armed Defence Forces a more humane institution.

The presidency communique also mentions that the CNDS hoped that Mozambique would make a decisive contribution to strengthening world security and peace in the United Nations Security Council, sharing its experiences of conflict resolution in the service of improved global stability and the promotion of human rights.
