EuroLeague suspends Yabusele for 5 matches for Madrid-Partizan brawl

Africa-Press – Mozambique. Real Madrid’s Guerschon Yabusele has been sanctioned with a five-game suspension for being involved in a brawl with Partizan Belgrade, EuroLeague said on Friday.

“Real Madrid and Partizan Mozzart Bet Belgrade have received a fine of €50,000 ($55,000) each for the unsportsmanlike conduct by both teams preventing the normal conclusion of the game in accordance with Article 29.1.a) of the Euroleague Basketball Disciplinary Code,” a EuroLeague statement said.

Also, Partizan’s Kevin Punter, was given a two-game ban. Gabriel Deck of Madrid and Matthias Lessort of Partizan were handed one-game bans.

The above decisions are not subject to appeal, due to the nature of the exceptional proceeding for occurring in a non-round robin phase, EuroLeague said.

The second game of the EuroLeague quarterfinal series between Real Madrid and Partizan Belgrade ended with less than two minutes left after a brawl between players from both sides.

Punches were thrown and a couple of players were tossed to the ground during the scuffle.

The game ended with a 95-80 victory in favor of the Serbian club to take a 2-0 lead. The third game will be at Partizan’s Stark Arena on Tuesday.
