Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Defence and Security forces have recovered the headquarters of the village of Sabe, which had been occupied by criminals calling themselves “Naparamas” for two weeks.

The reasons for the occupation remain unknown, but the group had held 280 women and children hostage at the former Renamo base.

State control over the village of Sabe in Morrumbala district was lost two months ago to criminals who claim to be Naparamas.

Reports indicate that the invaders recruited women and raped them in the presence of their husbands.

The armed forces were called in to restore order and recovered the town after a two-week campaign.

The Morrumbala district administrator has been informed of the health situation of citizens returning to their communities.

Many goods which had been stolen from the communities were recovered, as were weapons used by the group.

The armed forces continue to fight on the ground, intercepting parties they call “enemies of peace”.
