Farmers in Nampula province warned not to sell all of their surplus

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Industry and Commerce sector in Nampula is warning producers not to market the whole of their harvest immediately, so as to avoid food shortages later on, Rádio Moçambique reports.

The director of Industry and Commerce in Nampula, Alfredo Nampuio, said that the advice comes because numerous buyers are circulating in communities enticing small farmers to sell all of their produce.

The [ongoing] situation could result in food shortages in the near future, Nampuio said, pointing out that these commercial agents were well aware of the situation resulting from the Russia/Ukraine conflict. The trend is to buy products and then export them.
