Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Manuela Lucas, will participate this Thursday and Friday in the annual Africa–Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe.

This year’s meeting is held under the theme: “Innovation for Impact: Leveraging Technology and Collaboration for Future-Ready Societies”.

“The high-level meeting will bring together Ministers of Foreign Affairs from across Africa and the five Nordic countries – Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden – as well as representatives from business and the private sector, young innovators, and academia for a strategic dialogue aimed at consolidating cooperation between Africa and the Nordic countries, with a heightened focus on innovation, trade, and investment,” said Zimbabwe’s Foreign Affairs and International Trade spokesperson, Philisiwe Chidawanyika, in a statement.

A press release from Mozambique’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MINEC), sent to AIM yesterday, states that the foreign ministers will address issues of mutual interest between African and Nordic countries, aiming to strengthen commitments to multilateralism, peace and security, trade and investment, sustainable development, human rights, and gender equality.

The Africa–Nordic Foreign Ministers’ Meeting) will focus on topics such as strengthening multilateralism in addressing global peace and security issues, the reform of the United Nations Security Council, and strategies to strengthen African-Nordic business and trade relations within the framework of sustainable development and the promotion of industrialisation.

Other topics to be highlighted during the event include accelerating and sustaining progress in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2030, overcoming obstacles through partnerships between African and Nordic countries, and the transition from the aid cooperation model to trade and business partnerships.

The year’s meeting takes place at a time marked by extreme complexity in international politics, unilateralism, the conflict between cooperation and competition, growing challenges, and the emergence of opportunities in the economy and sustainable development.

On this trip, Manuela Lucas is accompanied by the Ambassadors of Mozambique to Sweden and the Nordic countries, and to Zimbabwe, Florêncio Joel Sele and Carvalho Muária, respectively, as well as the Deputy Director for Europe and America at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation (MINEC), Aristides Adriano.
