Africa-Press – Mozambique. Mozambique’s fuel imports registered an increase in all categories in 2021, with an emphasis on liquefied petroleum (cooking) gas, up 41.8% compared to 2020, and diesel up 35.4%.,
The figures are contained in the most recent Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy (MIREME) report, published on the website of the National Institute of Statistics (INE).
The report details that LPG imports rose from 30.9 thousand metric tons (MT) in 2020, to 43,800 MT in 2021, while imports of gasoline, diesel and jet fuel (for aircraft) grew by 1.5 million cubic meters (m3) in 2020, to 1.8 million m3.
The document also indicates an increase in sales in the domestic market during the period under analysis. “LPG and gasoline showed an increase of 14.9% and 14.5%, with quantities reaching 46.6 thousand metric tons (MT) and 486.6 thousand cubic metres (m3) respectively,” the report details.
Not all categories of fuel posted a rise in sales, however. “Jet-A1 (aviation fuel) suffered a reduction of 9.3% and lighting oil 17.1%, with the quantities sold in 2021 standing at 41.7 thousand m3 and 7.9 thousand m3 respectively,” reads the document.
