Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Mozambican government needs 42 million dollars to implement 30 development projects approved during the First Economic Forum held on Friday in the northern province of Niassa.

The projects in questions highlight the need to increase the production of soya, macadamia nuts and wheat.

The amount will be mobilized by the Mozambican Chamber of Commerce, but so far the African Development Bank (AfDB) has expressed its willingness to fund the projects.

According to AfDB’s resident director in Mozambique, César Abogo, the financial institution is open to training economic agents in the light of its new strategy to boost development in Niassa.

In their part, the Secretary of State in Niassa province, Lina Portugal, and the governor of Niassa, Elina Massangele, promised to do everything they can to make all the projects viable, providing all kinds of support to local and foreign businesses to make the investments real.

The government and partners spent 7.4 million meticais to support the logistics of the event, which took place in the city of Lichinga, under the slogan “Agriculture and Energy as Factors in the Development of Niassa Province.”
