As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, Grindrod is supporting the community of Sibaccuse, in the district of Marracuene, with the construction of a Community Teaching and Learning Centre that will benefit between 3,500 and 4,000 people, and which will be led by the 85 members of the Sibacusse Women’s Association.
In collaboration with F&H Consultoria and the Sibaccuse Community, Grindrod’s objective will be to provide the community with a space for education and training, health consulting, and community engagement events and meetings.
The project covers the completion of infrastructure and refurbishment of the Community Teaching and Learning Centre, and the inauguration is on track for mid-December 2023.
According to Afonso Bie from Grindrod in Mozambique: “This project reiterates our commitment to our communities. We are focused on providing resources to communities that contribute to elevating them.”
The Community Teaching and Learning Centre will include training for 25 individuals from the Sibaccuse Women-Led Community Association (SWLCA), which will be responsible for the administration and maintenance of the community centre. F&H Consultoria adds that: “The centre serves not only as a space for educational programmes but also as an important cultural centre to foster pride and strengthen ties within the community.”
