INP urges investors to return to Cabo Delgado

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Petroleum Institute (INP), the regulatory body for oil and gas operations in Mozambique, is encouraging investors in hydrocarbon projects to relaunch their investment projects in Cabo Delgado.

The appeal comes as solid signs are emerging on the ground that social and economic life is returning to normal in most districts of the province, once devastated by terrorist attacks.

It is based on this scenario that the director of the Institutional and Business Development Department at the INP, Inocência Maculuve, calls for investors to resume the pursuit of gas projects, namely Mozambique LNG in Area 1 and Rovuma LNG in Area 4 of the Rovuma Basin.

The projects were suspended following the declaration of ‘force majeure’ by Totalenergies in May, 2021.
