Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Italian ambassador to Mozambique said this Tuesday that Mozambique is one of the safest countries on the continent and has a “very friendly environment” for investment.
“The message we send as representatives of the Italian Government, as a chamber of commerce, to Italian businesspeople, is that, in fact, Mozambique is the safest country in Africa. It has political stability, social security that is absolutely extraordinary, so it is a very friendly environment for investment,” Italian ambassador to Mozambique Gianni Bardini told media on the sidelines of the Mozambique – Italy business forum in Maputo.
Even with the situation in Cabo Delgado in the north of the country, the Italian ambassador still feels that Mozambique guarantees the “continuity and security, in the future”, of investments.
The Mozambique – Italy business forum brought together the Mozambique – Italy Chamber of Commerce, the Mozambican Confederation of Economic Associations (CTA) and the Investment and Export Promotion Agency (APIEX), with the aim of promoting exchange and exploration of investment opportunities between Mozambican and Italian companies, with the focus on the energy, infrastructure, logistics, construction and agriculture sectors.
Speaking at the forum, CTA chairman Agostinho Vuma called for investment in Mozambique’s response capacity in the sectors under debate, stating that the country’s potential “is far beyond what is being exploited”.
“To reverse this scenario, we need to make the experiences brought here practical, through mechanisms that adapt to our reality, namely, through policies and programs aimed at these sectors which, as seen in the debates, have a multiplier potential for the rest of the economy,” Vuma said.
