“We can confirm that we have reached a mutual agreement with Jorginho to end his contract with immediate effect to become a free agent,” Arsenal said in a statement late on Friday.
Jorginho began his career at Hellas Verona in Italy before moving to Napoli in 2014.
While at Chelsea, he won the Champions League, Europa League, Super Cup, and Club World Cup.
He won the European Championship in 2020 and has 57 caps for Italy.
“Jorginho’s first assignment with Flamengo will be at the Club World Cup,” the Brazilian Serie A club said.
Flamengo’s Club World Cup campaign will first off on June 16 in Philadelphia against ES Tunis of Tunisia.
The 32-team Club World Cup, which has $1 billion in prize money up for grabs, will take place in the United States from June 14 to July 13.
