Africa-Press – Mozambique. Ahmed Anwar, who owns a hotel in Maputo, was released on Saturday, three months after being kidnapped near his home in the Sommerschield II area of the Polana Caniço ‘A’ neighbourhood.

A source close to the victim confirmed to Miramar that the family had, after prolonged negotiations, paid the kidnappers an undisclosed ransom amount.

The National Criminal Investigation Service has yet to comment on the developments in the case.

Anwar was abducted on the night of June 30 as he returned from the mosque, in a week significant for the movement of strangers observed in the area.

In July, the National Criminal Investigation Service in Maputo presented a young man suspected of involvement in the kidnapping.

The defendant denied all charges.
