LAM expects to take delivery of newly acquired aircraft this April

Africa-Press – Mozambique. Linhas Aéreas de Moçambique (LAM) expects to receive new aircraft this month to reinforce its fleet, currently consisting of four planes dedicated to domestic flights, reads a Noticias report.

A source from the company contacted by ‘Notícias’ did not disclose the number of aircraft that should arrive in the country, but said that LAM intends to acquire eight overall.

In January, LAM launched an international public tender to contract the supply of Embraer ERJ190 and Boeing 737-700 aircraft for passenger transport.

“We asked the supplier selected in the tender to, in fact, deliver the aircraft as soon as possible. LAM needs aircraft like bread for its mouth, but it has to be careful. The current situation inspires confidence, so we are eagerly awaiting the eight aircraft mentioned,” the source said.

LAM recently announced the suspension of flights to Harare (Zimbabwe), Lusaka (Zambia) and Lisbon (Portugal) as they do not guarantee a financial return, and will now focus its attention on domestic flights.

There are indications that flights to Cape Town, which, according to LAM, are also causing losses for the company, will be suspended from the 8th of this month.
