Africa-Press – Mozambique. The National Directorate of Civil Identification (DNIC) summoned the press this Thursday to announce that it will initiate online booking for the issuing of identity cards (BI) in Maputo and Matola from next Monday (Aug 23).
According to DNIC spokesperson Alberto Sumbana, the initiative comes in response to COVID-19 prevention measures aimed at reducing crowding in public institutions.
It is not yet known how many people are to be assisted per day, but the user must log on to the DNIC website, www.dnic.co.mz and select the day and time that he/she wishes to be assisted.
The site may in response indicate other days and times available, or reject requests on the basis of the numbers who have already requested bookings. The DNIC has not yet said how many clients will be seen per day.
Online booking in other provincial capitals may gradually be implemented, but no date has yet been given for this.
