Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Chume, yesterday urged military personnel engaged in the humanitarian mission in Boane district, Maputo province, to remain committed to flood search-and-rescue operations there.
Chume was speaking on Sunday (12-02) during a visit aimed at finding out about the work that the Defence Sector is carrying out in support of flood victims.
During his visit, Cristóvão Chume interacted with the soldiers of the Mozambican Armed Defence Forces and with Mozambican Civic Service providers committed to the humanitarian mission, encouraging them to continue their work with zeal and selflessness.
About 90,000 people had been resettled in four accommodation centres, and search and rescue work continues, according to Commander of the National Civil Protection Unit, Colonel Mário Tamele.
