After touring the districts of Montepuez, Mueda and Ibo, the Minister of National Defence, Cristóvão Chume, on April 30 visited military forces in the district of Chiure, with the aim of assessing the combat readiness of the Quick Reaction Force (QRF), plan additional actions and learn about operations led by the Mozambique Armed Defence Forces (FADM).
Minister Chume praised the role of the QRF, which has achieved positive results, stopping terrorist expansion across the southern region of the province of Cabo Delgado and Nampula.
“That’s why I decided to come and lend you strength and morale, and tell you that we are following the work you are doing,” the Minister of National Defence said, assuring those present that the enemy was destabilised, the reason for it carrying out attacks in unusual areas, with the aim of diverting the attention of the Armed Forces and spreading panic.
“Naturally, when two or three arrive in a village, before entering they start shooting, they burn one or two houses and the population flees,” he added.
Minister Chume encouraged the QRF to continue investing in a good relationship with the population, as only in this way would it be able to achieve success in its noble mission of defending the homeland.
