Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Minister of the Interior, Arsénia Massingue, has urged the members of the Police of the Republic of Mozambique (PRM) to improve the speed at which they identify and deactivate terrorist cells in the country.

Arsénia Massingue said that the freedom of Mozambicans depends on everyone’s vigilance and, above all, on a police force permanently trained to the highest standards.

“Always be ready to identify and deactivate probable cells of terrorism in rural and urban areas of our country, some disguised in economic and social activities,” Minister of the Interior Arsénia Massingue urged the PRM. ”Always be ready to support and defend the populations returning to their areas of origin, after having been forced to move in search of safe shelter.”

The minister added that crimes such as organized and transnational crime, kidnappings, homicides and terrorism, demand high standards of investigation from the police in coordination with other security forces.

“We must do everything to firmly combat all demonstrations or events against the state and against the people and defend territorial integrity,” she said during the closing ceremony of the Police Sergeants’ Course, where she encouraged the development of training for police instructors.

“The training of a police officer cannot be improvised. It must be done in an integrated and balanced way with scientific, empirical, technological and humanistic knowledge,” the minister concluded.
