MISAU starts paying overtime to avoid another strike

Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Ministry of Health (MISAU) has begun paying overtime for medical professionals and other employees, after doctors at Maputo Central Hospital (HCM) threatened to halt extraordinary activities this November.

A document to which ‘Carta’ has had access, dated November 1st and signed by Maputo Central Hospital director Mouzinho Saide, reads: “The HCM management hereby informs that, through the note in 790/DNCP/DGA/025 122/2023 of the National Directorate of Public Accounting, the payment of overtime was authorised only for Medical personnel, Health Technicians, Service Agents, Workers and Drivers, in compliance with the control mechanisms provided for in article 5 of Decree no. 06/2023, of February 10, which establishes rules for implementing the 2023 Economic and Social Plan and State Budget.”

The document also says that payment of overtime will be made this week for the month of January 2023, based on available allocation, pending budget reinforcement for the payment of overtime for February and March in the next two weeks.
