Africa-Press – Mozambique. More than four hundred tons of tilapia, farmed in the Cahora Bassa reservoir in Tete province, were processed this year and exported through Beira fishing port in Sofala province.

The export of tilapia fish results from a contract signed recently between the company Chicoa Fish, based in Tete’s Songo district, and the management of Beira fishing port.

Director António Remédio said that the number of fish farmers intending to engage in processing services is on the rise.

Remédio also noted that contacts with industrial and semi-industrial fishing operators intended to fully exploit the 500-ton capacity of the port’s six cold storage rooms were ongoing.
