Africa-Press – Mozambique. More than 4,000 families in Chigubo district, northern Gaza province, urgently need food support to fight off the hunger threatening communities in the region.
Irregular rainfall is indicated as the main cause of the failure of the current agricultural season, now about to end.
Chigubo district administrator Hermenegildo Infante explained that, to alleviate the hunger affecting these families, rice provided by the World Food Program (WFP) is currently being distributed.
The district administrator said that the drought had cost Chigubo district more than half the current campaign’s anticipated production of about 10,000 tons of various crops.
