MoU signed between USAID and SDC to strengthen cooperation and boost development in Northern Mozambique

Africa-Press – Mozambique. In a significant step towards enhancing development efforts in Nacala Corridor and the Northern region of the country, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) proudly announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to create the FTF Premier-Oholo (PRO) Partnership, which will combine USAID’s $25.5 million Feed the Future (FTF) Premier activity and SDC’s $6.7 million Oholo project.

The MoU, signed by the USAID Mission Director, Helen Pataki and SDC Head of Cooperation, Ilaria Dali outlines a framework for collaboration and cooperation between the two agencies in addressing challenges and promoting sustainable development for the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector in the region. The MoU signing ceremony is a crucial step towards pooling efforts, experiences, and funding among development partners to achieve better outcomes in the Nacala Corridor and Cabo Delgado.

The PRO Partnership, will contribute to shared goals, addressing key issues in Northern Mozambique, to maximize the impact of the efforts in key areas such as:

Together with USAID, we aim to create positive change, promote sustainable development, and contribute to a better future for communities in Nacala Corridor and Cabo Delgado.”

About the Signing Ceremony:

The MOU signing ceremony took place on January 29 at Nampula city. The event was attended by distinguished representatives, including Nampula Governor Manuel Rodrigues Alberto, Isobel Coleman, Deputy Administrator of USAID, Alain Gaschen, the Swiss Ambassador and Ilaria Dali, Head of Cooperation at SDC. Key U.S. Government officials present include Ambassador Peter Vrooman and the Mission Director Helen Pataki.
