Mozal awards scholarships to dozens of young women and girls in Matola

Africa-Press – Mozambique. This Tuesday, Mozal will deliver 78 Professional Technical Education scholarships to girls and young women in mechanics and electricity courses at the Industrial and Commercial Institute of Matola and the Armando Emilio Guebuza Industrial and Computing Institute.

The scholarships are part of the Women in Industry Project, an initiative implemented by Mozal in 2018 with the aim of training and employing women in the industrial sector, where their participation is relatively low.

Since its implementation in 2018, the project has awarded 282 scholarships to young women from local communities. Of this total, 162 were allocated to girls in professional technical education and 120 scholarships to girls in higher education engineering courses at Eduardo Mondlane University (UEM).

The scholarships include payment of tuition fees, school supplies, a monthly transport allowance and other expenses.

Mozal believes that training is one of the determining factors for the development of human and technical skills necessary to increase employability levels and generate self-employment in favour of the development of Mozambique.
