The National Director of Public Health, Rosa Marlene, told a press conference on Monday that a further 14 Mozambican nationals aged between 15 and 91 years old – of whom eight were men or boys and six women or girls – lost their lives to Covid-19. Of these deaths reported on Monday (July 12), one was declared on Saturday(July 10 ) , eight on Sunday (July 11) and five deaths were declared on that same day (July 12).

These deaths bring the coronavirus death toll in the country to 996.

Of the 1,687 newly diagnosed cases reported yesterday, 1,683 are Mozambicans and four of still unknown nationality. All infections resulted from local transmission.

Since the start of the pandemic, Mozambique has reported 90,555 Covid-19 cases.

In the previous 24 hours, 58 more patients were hospitalised and 33 discharged. The country now has 374 hospitalised patients.

On Monday, a further 263 recoveries were reported, 262 of them Mozambican and one a foreign citizen. Recoveries registered now total 73,880.

Mozambique had, by Monday, 15,675 active Covid-19 cases.

Fever, dry cough, tiredness, shortness of breath, joint pain, headache, chills, nausea or vomiting, a runny nose, diarrhoea and loss of smell or taste are the main symptoms of the Covid-19 Delta variant, Rosa Marlene explained.
