Africa-Press – Mozambique. The governments of Mozambique and Zimbabwe have just signed, in Nampula, a memorandum of understanding on the basis of which the two countries will start to cooperate within the scope of decentralisation.

The instrument was signed by the Minister of State Administration and Public Service, Ana Comoane and by the Zimbabwean Minister of Local Governments and Public Works, Julai Moio. The signing took place at the official opening of the III National Conference on Decentralisation in Nampula in the presence of President Filipe Nyusi.

The event takes place under the motto, ā€œDecentralisation as a Foundation for Consolidation of Peace and Local Developmentā€, and constitutes a central activity commemorating the African Decentralisation and Local Development Day (ADD).

The anniversary celebrated today is an opportunity to extol the achievements of African countries in the context of decentralisation, as well as to reflect on ways to improve the process of governance and local development on the continent.
