Africa-Press – Mozambique. The Council of Ministers has approved the Regulation for Special Economic Zones (SEZs) and Industrial Free Zones (IFZs) in the country. The Regulation establishes the legal framework applicable to the creation, implementation and operation of SEZs and IFZs within the national territory.
The announcement was made yesterday in Maputo by the Spokesperson of the Council of Ministers, Inocêncio Impissa.
“Special Economic Zones and Industrial Free Zones have the overall objective of promoting competitive geographical areas through strategic investment by providing operators and companies established within them with adequate infrastructural, legal, institutional, social and market conditions that create a galvanising environment for their activities,” Impissa said.
“These measures are intended to promote economic growth, diversify the local and national economy, develop business clusters, strengthen value chains, create skilled employment for Mozambicans and provide opportunities for professional advancement, among other benefits,” he added.
The Government also approved, during the same Cabinet meeting, the Resolution establishing the Advisory Committee of the Development Bank of Mozambique.
